At Partners in Animal Welfare (PAW), we’re proud to share the strides we’ve made in 2023, a year marked by significant growth and the deepening of our commitment to animals in need. We are immensely grateful for the support that has allowed us to expand our reach and enhance our programs. Here’s a look at our key achievements:
Incorporation and 501(c)(3) Status
- PAW has been officially incorporated as a New Jersey nonprofit corporation.
- We secured our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, ensuring that your contributions are tax-deductible.
- With pro bono legal support, we have protected our mission by trademarking our intellectual property.
leadership and team expansion
Our leadership team has grown to include experts in animal welfare including consultants, attorneys, directors, operating officers, and strategic growth professionals, all dedicated to advancing our cause.
grant awards
We have awarded grants to ten deserving animal welfare organizations, enabling them to continue their vital work.
volunteerism and engagement
PAW has fostered meaningful volunteerism, engaging companies and community members in hands-on assistance at rescues and shelters.
Educational Outreach
- Our sponsored sanctuary and rescue tours have provided immersive educational experiences throughout New Jersey.
- We've connected animal welfare enthusiasts through networking events and informative Zoom sessions.
grant makers initiative
We launch our Grant Makers’ Initiative, a program empowering contributors to make a direct, quantifiable difference in the lives of animals and stay informed or involved.
PAWs to read - in a box program
- 'Paws to Read - In a Box' is designed to replicate successful shelter reading programs across New Jersey. This program encourages young readers to engage with shelter animals, teaching them compassion and kindness while improving their reading abilities.
- PAW was awarded a grant by The Albert Payson Terhune Foundation to help us create special kits for shelters, fostering a unique bond between children and animals through reading.
internship program
Our new college internship program is nurturing the next generation of animal welfare advocates, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience.
Coalition-Building
- PAW has been active in coalition-building, addressing critical issues like housing for pets of at-risk populations and support for senior pets and their owners.
- We've placed pets of trafficking victims into temporary, safe housing.
